All Web Servers are not created equal. All bandwidth allocations to these Web Servers are not created equal either. Considering these facts, it follows that all Domain Hosting Services are not created equal. Before selecting a Website Hosting company, you need to know what type of facilities you are getting. When your business is going to be presented to the world, several very important factors must be considered.

Reliability:
You must give serious thought to the reliability of the Server Hardware, and Server Software being used by your web hosting company. You should be able to answer many technical questions, to your satisfaction, before selecting a Server to host your company web site. Remember, if the Server is down, your store is closed. Ask the hosting company what is their projected Server Up-time vs. Downtime? Don't believe unrealistic claims. Are there support personnel on-site to address hardware and software problems as they occur? If so, what are their on site hours? How can you contact these support personnel? What server hardware is being used? What is the operating system being used? What Server software is being used? What about data backup, data recovery, etc? What equipment and software upgrades will be performed as technology progresses. If so, will there be price increases to cover these upgrades. How often do upgrades occur?

Speed:
How fast does the Server give you it's web pages? On the Internet, Speed is everything. If your pages load slowly, your clients will go somewhere else. Speed is determined by file size and the bandwidth (data speed and amount), of the server's connection to the Internet. Speed and Reliability, are probably the most important considerations to keep in mind when selecting a Server. Speed and Reliability are often overlooked by most people when they are selecting a Web Hosting service. Many cut rate site hosting companies have T1, T3, or maybe an OC3 line for a connection to the internet. These companies are sometimes hundreds of miles from a main internet hub. Our website hosting service provides Redundant OC3, OC12, and OC48 lines, located near the MAE-East Main Internet Hub in VA., for greatly increased server speed. See our explanation of line speeds on this site.

Facility Security:
Where is the physical location of the host Server facility? What City? Is the Server near one of the main Internet hubs? Is the Server facility secure? Is the Host Server protected from Vandals? Does the server facility have Fire Suppression Equipment in place. If so, what kind of system is it? Computer Equipment can't survive water, or foam chemicals. Only an oxygen depletion system should be considered. Is there Back-up Power? Is this back-up power just a small home type UPS, or is it Commercial Grade UPS? Is there a Generator on site? If so, is it a commercial grade generator? Is there more than one generator on site? If these answers are yes, how big are these emergency power sources, and is there a supply of fuel on site? Are regular generator tests performed each Week? Does the generator automatically start in case of Commercial Power Failure? These things are important items to consider, if you are really serious about having reliable server service.
